- David Rosenberg of Gluskin Sheff analyses the unemployment numbers. Taken from ZeroHedge blog
- Farmers and crop insurance companies screwing the American taxpayer with hundreds of millions in dollars, of false insurance claims. Sometimes farmers never plant a harvest and claim losses, and sometimes sell the harvest in secret then file false claims for losses---collecting twice for the same crop. From journalist P.J. Huffstutter of the Los Angeles Times
- Koch Brothers pulling the strings of their Republican puppets in Congress. That would have been my chosen headline to some terrific journalism by Tom Hamburger, Kathleen Hennessey and Neela Banerjee over at the Los Angeles Times
- Nomi Prins writing over at AlterNet about some of the root causes of the Egyptian uprising.
- A terrific blogger "Manshu" at "One Mint" blog explains the negative side of Quantitative Easing (QE) in a way everyone can understand. This also relates to the government or the U.S. Treasury printing money (increasing the supply of money in circulation). Boring for the economically literate but a terrific read for financial laymen.
- Some old writings by John Maynard Keynes that he gave in an radio address on BBC. Even if you don't agree with all of Keynes writings, it's always a good exercise of the mind. From Tom Walker's blog with a hat tip to Brad DeLong
- Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight blog gives us a graphical perspective (pictorial view??) for the 2012 Republican Race (A little early, but what the hell eh?? What's one bastard from the next anyway??)
- Christopher Hitchens writes on the legacy of Ronald Reagan. From Slate
- Jonathan Weisman on the economic legacy of Ronald Reagan. Washington Post
- Anthony Doerr on the magic of books. From "Northwest Book Lovers" internet site
- White Stripes rock duo disband. LA Times blog
- Our Female Vision of the Day: Kiran Chetry, for those into legs and high heel shoes. Less than a minute long video. I took from Youtube, but obviously originally from CNN in 2007. There's another video over on Youtube where Kiran is wearing a light purple miniskirt sitting down, but a little too raunchy for this site. We try to keep things relatively family friendly here, but a "heads up" for our more adventurous readers.
